Well, back when he was debating Bill White, he said that if he were elected to his third term, he wouldn't run for President. Obviously, that didn't stop him.

Doesn't it get boring after a while, Rick?

If he runs, he'll win like every other Republican running statewide. Abbott's the only Perry alternative. In 2018 the Williams brothers will be ready.

Rick, I honor your time as governor but it's time for new blood to take over in Texas.

KBH will be out of office in 2013.
Hopefully you and John Cornyn will be out in 2015.

Hopefully Barton, Sessions, and some of the other dinosaurs in Texas also retire.

He refused to debate White.

Ok. I recall him saying that at one point though.

Heh, why not? I think the current record for consecutive years served as Governor is 18 set by George Clinton. Might as well set a new record! Tongue

Sad to say that he'll win too. (With the preface that he isn't ousted by another Republican in a primary. If he makes it to the general, he's safe.) After all, Texas does love its Republicans these days. Though my neck of the woods isn't too fond of Perry, most of the rest of the state will be all Perry. Easy win... sadly.

So, at this point, you can basically rename the Governor's Mansion: Rick Perry's House of Blues.

Wow, that's kind of ridiculous. The man will have been in office longer than some of his newer voters have been alive. Perry should just stop running.

It'd probably be pretty hard for him to be renominated this time.

Except he's been in office for so long that's he's been able to stuff the Texan government with his cronies, so he has way more power than anyone gives him credit for.

'Course, he's an idiot anyway, but a powerful one.
