Baldwin(D-WI) is the Midwestern Chris Coons.
Looking at the 2010 DE US Senate Race. Polls showed Mike Castle-R leading Coons-D. Coons-D leading O'Donnell-R. O'Donnell-R won the GOP nomination..etc Coons-D is Senator for life.
2012 WI US Senate Race. Republican primary includes Thompson-moderate elder statesman former Governor, Neumann-moderate to conservative former Congressman, Fitzgerald-extreme conservative State Legislator. Neumann wins the nomination because he is conservative enough for the Tea Party but moderate enough for Republican leaning Independents. Baldwin-D defeats Neumann-R in the general election by a single digit margin due to Obama-D coattails. Obama-D is going to carry WI by a high single digit/low double digit margin.

Feingold-D is a lackluster campaigner. He refuses to play dirty - raise and spend soft money contribution. (Feingold's 1998 re-election race against a Neumann-R which Feingold narrowly won). Baldwin-D like Feingold-D is going to face tough general election campaigns every 6 years. However Baldwin-D is not going to make the same errors Feingold-D has been making during his Senate re-election campaigns. Baldwin-D will accept assistance from third party organizations.
