Questioning the Power Act
1. Once every month, the Governor of the Mideast shall be required to dedicate a part of his time to provide answers to questions which citizens may ask in a special thread. This thread shall be created by the Governor.
2. The special thread shall be opened, or a previous thread bumped, on a Monday.

Is this this an amendment? Either way, I probably remain opposed.

Enough activity to justify another thread ?
I'm not convinced.

No, it's not a constitutional amendment but a simple bill.
I think most people have noticed that there is very little activity in our region (in the Assembly but also in the region as a whole) and we should try out new ways to improve that. Indeed, I hope that the "Questioning the Power Act" can help to increase activity because it gives ME citizens a better opportunity to communicate with the Governor. Clearly, this bill is not the sole solution to the activity problem we have but merely one concrete measure to tackle the issue. We need more ideas, no doubt.

I say the Governor just opens an office & if you have a question, post it there or PM him.

That's the case already, but no citizen ever posts in that thread to ask a question. My hope is that if the Governor is required to encourage ME citizens to communicate with him and makes people aware of this opportunity by creating a special thread for this purpose, people will make use of the opportunity to directly talk to the Governor more frequently.

If I were Governor I'd probably be happy not to have the pesky citizenry asking me questions and forcing me to justify my decisions. A complacent and apathetic citizenry, after all, is the easiest tool to a dictatorship.

You don't feel that this is part of the Governor's Executive power?

By passing this bill we only set the framework for increased communication between the executive branch and the citizens of the Mideast, but the Governor still has a lot of freedom to structure his question time. That's why I think the Governor's executive power is not restricted in an excessive manner. This and the fact that a very similar bill was passed in the IDS without any protest from the Emperor suggests that the intent of the "Questioning the Power Act" is not problematic.

For the record, we passed this bill some time ago in the IDS & it has been completely irrelevant.

Despite Emperor PiT's comment I support giving this bill a chance. If necessary I will come up with a question to the Governor every time so that the bill will be relevant after all!

Voting is now closed. The AYEs are 1, and the NAYs are 1, with 3 not voting. Having not reached a majority of AYE votes cast, the bill is not passed.
