Quick reminder to everyone that the election is on Friday.  Currently, we have two candidates running for the District 1 seat and no candidates running for the District 2 seat.

Thank you to all those who came to the polls and voted for me.  Though I was unopposed in this race, I take the office of Emperor as no small thing.  I promise to serve you and put 110% in everything I do in this office, just as I have for every position I've had in Atlasia.

Right now, the bill I have introduced that would end homelessness in the next decade is being considered by the Legislature once again.  While I, unfortunately, cannot promise that it will successfully pass the Legislature on its second try, I am dedicated to working with my colleagues to develop a plan that will address this issue that plagues our region.

What the...

Who's resigning?  I didn't get any notice of that and no one's stated their intent to resign in the declaration thread.

Then my confusion over the districts system is now tenfold.

I am currently receiving word about the tornado disaster that struck central Arkansas and Oklahoma.  I will be accompanied by members of my administration as I fly to the state of Arkansas today and meet with relevant officials and address members of our media.  In the meantime, please keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you.

Citizens,

Jbrase has resigned his seat in our Legislature, creating a vacancy.  Please contact me ASAP if you would like to be considered to serve as an interim Representative.

I am pleased to announce that this morning I signed legislation that will establish what is perhaps the largest program geared toward assisting our nation's poor since Fritzcare:

As I said to our Legislature, many IDS citizens were on the fence and skeptical of these measures.  In fact, the bill failed to pass on its first vote.  But we went back, made changes, and although this bill was still a difficult vote for some, the bill acquired the three bipartisan votes necessary to reach my desk.  With the signing of this law, the IDS will now have the tools it needs to curb homelessness at its roots, thereby eliminating poverty and reducing government spending on food stamps and welfare over the long term, simultaneously.  We know this because of Utah's experiment with a similar program, as that state is projected to eliminate homelessness within its borders by the end of the decade.

I would like to specifically thank Representatives SJoyce, Oak Hills, and Maxwell for voting in favor of this bill.  Without their support, this would not have been possible.

Now I would like to encourage other regions to pass similar measures geared toward ending homelessness within their borders.  This is a cause that must be addressed region by region.

In other news, I am still talking to IDS residents as I look for someone who can fill former Rep. Jbrase's seat.  I hope that I am able to appoint someone as soon as possible.

Congrats, Your Majesty, I know you worked rather hard on the matter. Smiley

Presently the Senate is debating including grants to the regions for programs targetting this issue, in the I believe the Public Means Public Act. You are welcome to contribute your thoughts on this matter in  the debate thread if you so desire.

IDS CITIZENS: PLEASE vote in the May 2014 regional elections!!

I mistakenly thought that the election was next week, so I apologize for opening the booth late.  The election will end May 20th at 3:13 PM.

No candidates have declared for this cycle, so all who wish to run must do so via write-in.

PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT

My friends,

As you know, the June presidential election is rapidly approaching.  Before you know it, we will be electing two fresh faces to lead the country that we both love.  So far, the contest is beginning to look quite competitive, and we have already seen four people throw their hats into the ring, one who ultimately decided to drop out of the race and endorse one of his opponents.

And speaking of endorsements, I am often one who likes to wait before the final weeks leading up to the election before giving anyone my public support.  However, this race in particular will be one of those exceptions.  Upon much consideration, I have decided to endorse Governor DemPGH and Governor Windjammer for our next President and Vice President of the Republic of Atlasia.

Throughout their time in Atlasia, these two gentlemen have shown their ability to lead in multiple capacities.  Both executives from formally inactive regions, DemPGH and Windjammer demonstrated that they have what it takes to build from the bottom-up.  They understand the value that comes with holding elected office, regardless of how much power or prestige that office may give them.

I remember when DemPGH ran for Vice President as then-candidate Nix's running mate.  I remember when he was sworn in as Vice President and forced to deal with the growing crisis concerning the dissolution of the Pacific Region.  He has the experience necessary to get the job done, and he has chosen a pleasant and fairly fresh face to the game, Windjammer, to balance the ticket.

These two are the ones who will continue to pave the path for Atlasia's future.  They will dedicate themselves to this game in good times and in bad, and under their leadership we shall enjoy a period of peace, prosperity, and activity.  They are also the only candidates in the race who, I believe, will continue to fight for the education reforms pioneered by President Duke and myself.

I could spend another five paragraphs going over their records and affirming my unwavering support for this ticket, but I understand that most people don't want to read long statements saying the same thing over and over again, so with that I will conclude my endorsement.

My friends, get out.  Donate.  Volunteer.  Vote.  In the end, it's all up to you.

Just to put it out there, I defended your education reforms in the Northeast and built on them. I don't see how you can argue that I won't be a defender of your education reforms on the federal level as well.

You signed Deus' bill that undid most of the reforms initiated by the reform bill I signed, and Dallasfan repealed the foreign language classes bill and nothing has been enacted to replace those things or otherwise make the system more efficient.  Northeast education policy hasn't been good in the last year.
