I miss the old days
«
on:
February 26, 2012, 05:14:38 pm »
I miss the old days when Mark Warner used to be a reccuring joke here.
I miss the old days when you could post s**t and nobody cared.
I miss the old days when Mikado was a nice gentleman, before he became mad with power.
I miss the old days when VanderBlubb posted frequently.
I miss the old days when this forum had relatively few Paultards. And few Paultarded too.
I miss the old days when the what-if board was the busiest one.
I miss the old days when we all laughed as DWTL's retarded comments.
I miss the old days when CoburnIn2012 had a liberal sock.
I miss the old days when Mechaman was writing about incest.
I miss the old days when we were dumb enough to assume the Democrats will enlarge their congressional majority in 2010.
Guys, what happened to us?

I'm so glad I arrived here during the height of the Golden Era.

I remember arguing that it wasn't a sure thing that the democrats would win the House in 2006. Man, did things turn fast that year.

Golden Era = 2003-2005
Specifically, late 2003/early 2004 (when I started lurking) to early 2005.

Those Mark Warner "jokes" (apparently they had humorous intent, although I never understood how) were the worst.

I'd consider the Golden Era to be (unsurprisingly) 2006. That was definitely the peak of the forum, remember all the arguing about Santorum (ah some things never change) and the Lieberman race? The Hillary/Obama primary also is probably the most interesting electoral event the forum has ever gone through, so that too deserves a mention.

The events you describe are definitely not the old days. I started here in 2004 under the account, BushAlva, and really became active in 2005 under BushOklahoma (only changed from BushAlva due to lost password). I think the highlight (or lowlight) of the forum was the dazzleman/texasindy/jamespol soap opera of several years ago. That was a fun time and I remember being ridiculed and laughed at and mocked for being friends with jamespol (incidentally, I am still friends with the man). I now remember those days with a smile and a giggle.

Everyone has a different "golden era" of this forum. Nostalgia is terrible.
(Though like Yankee I'm a big fan of 2009.

2007 wasn't a great year for me at all, so that's not a golden age.
Actually, nostalgia is not a good thing. Just enjoy the time you have here and if you're not, then go.
