I am not very enthusiastic about any of the candidates currently running, but I'll probably end up voting for Snowstalker. I wish Simfan were contesting this election, because I'd rather vote for him.

The thing is, we need a diverse set of views represented in the Assembly. Smiley

It appears we have a lead going into this election.

Yes, assuming you get most of Earl's or Jerseyrules' transfers. I don't know how those will break down.

Are the libertarians really so ideologically stubborn as to vote for Jerseyrules over either of the qualified candidates?

I do not normally get involved in local races that take place in other regions, but since this a very public thread I'll make an exception here.

Assuming your question is not meant to be understood ironically or as a joke, why are you complaining about libertarians being ideologically stubborn by voting for "their" candidate even though not too long ago you voted to elect (and re-elect!) RFK to the NE Assembly - a candidate who wasn't exactly ... erm ... qualified for the job?

I voted for Jerseyrules with the knowledge in mind that Snowy will likely win. Look, if I could give two first preferences, I would. But I wanna give Jersey a chance. Sorry, Snowy Sad These Assembly elections are always tough for me to preference Sad

The increasing partisanship in this region is highly concerning-slash-disturbing to me.

Hmm, Jerseyrules as opposed to you?  You were never particularly active in the Assembly, and after being elected Governor without running a real campaign,* you proceeded to spend more time trying to recall an active assemblyman (yes, me) than doing your constitutionally-required duties, such as opening voting booths for tied bills which you signed (two governors later, this still has not been done).  Furthermore, you quit in the middle of your gubernatorial term.  Jerseyrules, like him or hate him, is at least active.  By any objective, non-ideological measure, Jerseyrules is clearly more qualified.  I don't like to be negative, but you can't just fling around personal insults like that, especially when you're living in a very brittle glass house.  As for Earl, he's been elected to the Assembly twice, IIRC, during my tenure, and failed to even swear in both times.

*As long as we're discussing "partisanship."

Snowstalker quit for personal reasons, much better than staying in office while inactive. Anyway, what are these tied bills? Weight need to revisit them. I know the crazy Jerseyrules bill AndrewCT sent to the people never had a booth opened, but since that was last session the bill would have to be reintroduced.

But that reminds me, we should probably just abolish this swearing in crap since its awfully ritualistic and not particularly useful.

The bill in question is the Second Northeast Tax Reform Act of 2011, for which he had 21 days to open a voting booth: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=142860.msg3149977#msg3149977

In any case, he says he quit because of school.  First of all, whatever it was it clearly wasn't too time-consuming, since he didn't leave the forum, and second of all that's an obstacle which is completely predictable, as opposed to something like medical problems, a death in the family etc.  You can't claim to be "more qualified" in an insulting manner if your record is one of inactivity followed by quitting, and you have no excuse for inactivity if you can find the time to try to recall active assemblymen but can't find the time to do your required duties as governor (open voting booths, present a budget, sign bills, etc.).

I had a giant project, and my activity on the forum slowed a little bit. I came back when that cleared up (less than I expected)
