With the Santormentum suddenly stopped cold tonight in MI & AZ, along with the fact that the Gingrich campaign is looking quite weak(Has surprised people before so not counting him out again). Will Ron Paul become the next anti-Romney for the GOP base, esp given that he is actually quite well positioned to win a couple of primaries at the least(Wash, Idaho etc)?

I think he may stand a chance at this given that Santorum seems to have nowhere to go and that Gingrich appears close to making a last stand.

If so this forum needs to brace it's self for a perspective invasion by the Paultards again.

No, he's been inconsequential pretty much since Iowa (with the obvious exception of Maine), so, though he does have a chance in some caucus states coming up, the only way he gets to be the anti-Romney is if Gingrich and Santorum drop out before he does (probably very likely really, but at that point Romney will have won, so it doesn't matter).

Besides, he hasn't really attacked Mitt at all. All indications show he's perfectly fine with the prospect of a Romney nomination.

No.  The mainstream GOP will never (sadly) embrace Paul's ideals.

The final anti-Romney is Newt Santorum.

No.

The polling from Virginia shows that when push comes to shove, most anti-Romney voters would rather either sit home or cast a grudging vote for Romney than vote for Paul.

Besides, tonight's results were largely as I expected save that Gingrich and Paul underperformed in Michigan, allowing Romney's narrow win there be at the >40% level instead of the 40% level.

Why would he? He's Romney's campaign surrogate.
