I imagine that if she had run, it would have looked similar. A large, almost built in amount of support as they entered, then a series of poor debate performances, followed by a low place showing in Iowa, then out before South Carolina.

Pretty much: there's no way Palin could have gotten through 20-odd debates without making a devastating, campaign-ending gaffe.

Perry could do so much better with his conservative record as governor. He'll probably run again and drop out before Iowa.
