Forthcoming Timeline:
The Seal of Approval: The Nomination Fight of Naso and Innamorato

Prologue:

Mike Naso, born and raised in Ohio, worked his way up from being the son of a police officer father and banker mother, to becoming one of the leading contenders for the Republican nomination. He was an average student who went onto attend Ohio State, where he majored in economics. Following graduation he was decided against attending law school, and instead landed a job in Sen. Rob Portman's office. He remained there until he began working on the successful Presidential Campaign of Marco Rubio.

He landed a job in the White House with the Communication team, and created quite the name for himself by appearing on all the necessary talks shows, promoting the Administration and attacking Democrats. He became Press. Secretary and served in it throughout the first term. He then left in 2022 to run for the open senate seat vacated by retiring sen. Rob Portman.

He faced popular Democratic Governor Bobby Jameson and trailed him throughout most the campaign, but a knockout debate performance where Naso charged Jameson for thinking he was "Entitled to the senate seat. I know that is the Democratic way of thinking that this is a entitlement society, but that's not my America, that's not the America the people of Ohio know. We believe in opportunity and hard work, not entitlement and laziness."

That line sealed the deal and Naso turned a five point lead by Jameson into a ten point win for Naso.

Ohio Senate Race: 2022
Naso: 54%
Jameson: 44%

He served two terms in the US Senate, and then returned back to Ohio where he became a media consultant. He toyed with running in 2036, but passed on it and announced his campaign for President against incumbent Julian Scott in 2039.

Naso is the father of five children and married to his high school sweetie, Jennie. Due to his colorful personality he became a fixture on TV shows and skits on Saturday Night Live.

Phil Innamorato was born into a family of great wealth and prestige. He attended the top schools and earned an MBD from Harvard and a JD from Yale. His father Gregory Innamorato a prominent international businessman based out of Philadelphia, served a consultant on foreign affairs for the Rubio campaign and eventually became UN Ambassador under President Rubio from 2017-2025.

His father's role in the Rubio Administration helped him politically and assured that his future was secured. After the passing of the Bar, Innamorato went to Philadelphia where he landed a job a K&L Gates. He worked his way up, while serving as a member of the school board in his hometown and eventually ran for Congress 2022 and narrowly lost to incumbent Representative Winnie Stone.

Congressional Race: 2022
Winnie: 50%
Innamorato: 48%

He returned to practicing law and remained active in Republican politics and ultimately ran for Governor in 2034 and won, then went onto win a landslide reelection in 2038. He announced his Presidential campaign in 2039.

Innamorato is the father of one and is married to his wife Mary.

The incumbent President, Julian Scott served as Governor of California from 2027-2029, before being tapped to be Vice President for President Marcia Tommie who served from 2029-2037. In a narrow contest to succeed her Scott won the Presidency. He faced a tumultuous term from the start, with the economy going into the tube around 2038. He was deemed to be a likely one term President, but the primary fight between Naso and Innamorato looked to benefit the President, rather than hurt him.

Prior to serving as Vice President and Governor, Scott was a screenwriter with a degree from the University of Berkley. He was twice married, and has three children from his second marriage.

44: Barack Obama: 2009-2017
45: Marco Rubio: 2017-2025
46. Paul Ryan: 2025-2029
47. Marcia Tommie: 2029-2037

Both men trade swaps with victories in Florida, South Carolina, Nevada and Michigan, but where the contest took shape was on Super Tuesday.

With both Naso and Innamorato drawing about even on Super Tuesday the focus shifted to the Texas and Illinois primaries, where both candidates who to drive the other out of the race.

You should definitely include some sort of media story about how the two of them knew each other from their days posting on the Atlas, and even include a scandal about something controversial one of them posted in their youth.

I feel like it would just be something weird nobody would really care about -- the way the two Independent Senators, Joseph Lieberman and Bernie Sanders, were both once roommates with a certain obscurity named Richard Sugarman. Just a coincidence.

As the race headed into Texas and Illinois, both Innamorato and Naso vied for support. The big key many saw was Pres. Marco Rubio. Pres. Paul Ryan announced he would not be endorsing a candidate during the race, but Rubio left the door open, "Once we have a narrowed field, I may make an endorsement."

Both candidates met with Rubio leading up to Illinois, but no endorsement was made. Naso and Innamorato and during a single debate, four days before the election Naso managed to close the three point lead by Innamorato down to a dead heat. In the debate Naso rhetorically chastised his opponent for never having to understand the challenges of real Americans. "You're a good guy, but you've lived inside a bubble, all safe and secure, and that's just a fact."

Innamorato responded in the days that followed with attacks ads, but the damage was done. Naso sealed the deal and won the Illinois primary, by a much larger margin than thought.

Illinois:
Naso: 54%
Innamorato: 45%

Following Illinois' results former President Marco Rubio endorsed Mike Naso for President.
"He is a conservative visionary who will lead this party to victory in November!"

Innamorato laughed off the endorsement and found it ironic, "He calls me the establishment and yet he served in the Rubio Administration."

Innamorato spent his Illinois primary night campaigning in Texas, where he hoped to bounce back and despite the momentum from Naso's win, Innamorato's plan seemed to be working.

Texas: The Day After Illinois
Naso: 52%
Innamorato: 45%

Texas: 5 Days before The Primary
Innamorato: 50%
Naso: 44%

Despite a strong effort by Naso, Innamorato won the Texas primary, throwing the GOP race for the nomination back up into the air.

Texas:
Innamorato: 52%
Naso: 47%

Even with the economy in shambles the protracted Republican Race was benefiting the electoral chances of Pres. Scott, and that was beginning to make Republicans worried. "We need to get a nominee fast, otherwise we're going to duplicate like what happened in 2012 between Romney and Santorum." -- Former Pres. Paul Ryan.

Innamorato v. Scott:
Scott: 46%
Innamorato: 44%

Naso v. Scott:
Scott: 47%
Naso: 44%

Unemployment Rate: April 2040
8.5%

Who Do you Support for the GOP Nomination?
Naso: 47%
Innamorato: 45%

Following his defeat in Texas, Naso headed into the stretch of contests that included Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Indiana. Innamorato was favored in the first two, but Naso looked for a rebound Missouri, as Indiana was assured for him.

Yet, he underestimated Innamorato's organization in the states and only ended up carrying Indiana.

Arkansas:
Innamorato: 55%
Naso: 44%

Louisiana:
Innamorato: 56%
Naso: 43%

Missouri:
Innamorato: 51%
Naso: 48%

Indiana:
Naso: 52%
Inamorato: 47%

Following his victories Innamorato boomed with confidence, but Naso refused to give in and headed into the next set of contests that included Innamorato's home state of Pennsylvania. "The establishment wants this guy, and that's their choice. But millions of Americans are saying something much different, and I represent them!"

Following his bruising defeats Naso streamlined his campaign, which brought unneeded headlines in the wake of upcoming primaries, including one in his home state of Ohio. Innamorato, looking to deliver a final knockout punch to his opponent campaigned heavily in the state of Ohio, while Naso avoided campaigning in The Keystone all together, one out of respect for Innamorato, and two the campaign was running low on cash.

"We need to win Ohio in November, so I'm going to play here." -- Gov. Innamorato.

Who do you support for the nomination?
Innamorato: 49%
Naso: 45%

The contests included four states, including the District of Columbia. Naso went into the primary day with most pundits declaring his campaign was over. "This is once again when the establishment beats the grassroots guy, it's tough, but that's politics in America. The little guy doesn't win the big fight in the end." -- Innamorato Campaign Manager

"This is the fight of two visions for America. We both are conservative, but one believes in not moving forward, the other believes in taking the bull by the horns, because that's what needs to be done! This country is in trouble and I'm bold enough to stand up and admit it! Enough of the liberal nonsense, it's time for a return to conservative principles, conservative ideals!" -- Naso.

The Primaries: OH, MD, DE, DC, PA

In a surprising upset Naso trumped Innamorato on primary night, beating him in overwhelming landslides in four contests, and nearly upsetting him in his home state of Pennsylvania.

Ohio:
Naso: 61%
Innamorato: 38%

Maryland:
Naso: 59%
Innamorato: 40%

Delaware:
Naso: 60%
Innamorato: 39%

District of Columbia:
Naso: 84%
Innamorato: 15%

Pennsylvania:
Innamorato: 50.00%
Naso: 49.44%

Following his landslide victories Naso built on his momentum and swept the next eighteen contests. Innamorato remained in the race, but he fell behind in delegates and in strength. He finished the race in June, though it had become clear long before that Naso was going to be the nominee.

With his victory in the California and Utah Primaries Naso went well over the needed delegates needed to become the nominee and the next phase of the campaign moved into effect.

"We're on our way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!" -- Naso.

Naso v. Scott:
Naso: 46%
Scott: 43%
