I can't imagine Gingrich happily endorsing Romney, or even endorsing him at all. What if.... Gingrich runs as a "Conservative Party" candidate?

Newt/Perry (or Santorum) 2012: The Conservative Party
Romney/(Some boring GOP guy): The Establishment Republican Rich People's Party (from Gingrich's point of view)
Obama/Biden: The Democratic Party

He doesn't have much to lose, does he?

Prolonging his attention whoring, making more money in the process. That's Newt we're talking about.

Who would be crazy enough to want to be Newt's VP? How much of white male Wal-Mart vote would he spoil? I don't see Perry being dumb enough to do this, Santorum hates Newt. Maybe Newt/Bachmann?

Newt/Santorum-Conserative party
Romney/who knows-republicans
Obama/Biden democrats

I'd say that Obama would get 40 percent of the voting population and win. Obama takes all of the northeast and west coast. Ill, Wis, Mich, New mexico, Possibly Ohio. Of course Romney could take Ohio being a moderate???

Romney/who knows wins Virgina, Az, Co, Nevada, Florida,

Newt/Santorum takes the south, midwest and northern plains.

I know there is a number that's close to the 9 on the keyboard, so I corrected your mistake.

The Democratic base in many of those states you have going for Romney or Gingrich is strong enough to carry some, if not many, of them given how split the conservative vote would be

Given the vote split and the fact that Obama should get at least 49% of the vote, he'd win nearly every state.

I don't think it would split evenly in every state to be honest. I'd figure Romney to have MORMON power in the mountain west, and Gingrich to have southern, super Christian power in the South. Idk about Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia though. Those might split evenly and give the win to Obama.

Probably not but he's crazy enough to stay in the race until it's no longer possible to defeat Romney.

Nah, he doesn't actually want to be President. This little campaign of his is going exactly as planned; some people care about him again.

Yes we are definitely nearing it. I can't see an Anti-Romney candidate win the primary if Romney wins in Alabama and Mississippi. By not uniting they have only empowered what they (supposedly) oppose. Gingrich is probably only in it for the money and we all know who has plenty of that.

Kalwejt, in your view, would the ticket of Gingrich/Craig made up of the serial philanderer and the homosexual men's room predator be better than Gingrich/Cain, the serial philanderer and the multiple sexual harasser?

With a third-party candidate such as Gingrich running, you're talking about an Obama landslide. Any Republican bastion (with the exception of the interior West) that sees both conservative candidates garner at least 10% of the vote each is an instant Obama victory, and in many cases, it would take a lot less.

Obama/Biden - 466
Gingrich/Perry - 45
Romney/??? - 27

This would be a hilarious election.

(Obama vs Romney vs the Newt assuming Gingrich remains relevant)

The division of the right allows Obama to win a number of states with barely more than 40% of the vote, leading to a massive electoral landslide.

I might be being to generous to the Republicans here.

Also, this possibility is kind of fantasy and I'm more likely to turn into a turnip than it is to happen.

Yes, he's crazy enough to do so.
No, I don't think he actually will.

Crazy enough to run, too crazy to succeed.  He couldn't get on the primary ballot in Virginia, so I wish him all the best in the general.
