Defeats the whole purpose of Kiribati. The United States of America cannot exist purely in the Middle East, so I would think that they should at least rename the country to that of the islands they are buying.

I've read somewhere that Tuvalu and Nauru are next.

Or they already have been relocated ...

Least they could do would be to relocate them to the First World.

Australia has just changed the immigration code in the last year or so, IIRC, to include expedited assessment for climate refugees from the Pacific.

If global warming continues and the average temperature increases by 4-6°C in the next 100 or 200 years, Bangladesh & West Bengal may be next. Re-locating 400 Mio. people ? Great. Not my concern though. I'll be dead.

Why do people keep saying that? Bangladesh is very low lying, sure, but it is constantly growing as India and Tibet basically get washed down there.
