This should be interesting.

Given that most of his platform became the progressive reforms of the first 2 decades, I voted FF despite the Scopes Trial.

I'll be honest, I've actually gained a little respect for William J. Bryan over the past year or so.  Sure, this is the vehement supporter of prohibition and a noted nativist, as well as an economic progressive.  Yeah whatever.

But, his opposition to imperialism can't be understated.  For William J. Bryan so hated imperialism he gave up his one and only Secretary of State gig.

This may earn me the hatred of some people here, but you wouldn't have to put a gun to my head to convince me to vote Bryan over McKinley or Taft.

In other words, he was the Pat Buchanan of the early 20th Century.

With that said, mixed.

Extremely horrible person.  He was perfectly willing to completely sell out his few good principles for minor political gain.  Amusingly, he'd probably be in favor of imprisoning everyone who voted "FF."
