Isn't this fairly "normal" for the RSA?

2023 results for richest countries in Africa (GDP per person).

The list is quite surprising:

1   $14,450 pp  Seychelles
2   $9,920 pp  Mauritius
3   $8,700 pp  Libya
4   $6,530 pp  South Africa
5   $6,440 pp  Gabon
6   $6,430 pp  Botswana
7   $5,150 pp  Equatorial Guinea
8   $4,650 pp  Namibia
9   $3,660 pp  Algeria
10   $3,650 pp  Eswatini

By way of comparison Ireland is $137k pp and USA is $81k pp.

By total GDP, Nigeria is the richest country, but running about $2,000 per person.

So for countries outside the top ten in Africa, the citizens, in global terms, are producing about as much wealth in one year as the average Irish person does In one week.

Clearly, they need to start working a bit harder as a continent.
