What was the DC result? I'm assuming somewhere in the high 70s to high 80s.

Looks pretty close to what a Republican victory in 2012 would look like. The most glaring exception is Maryland.

Maryland, NJ, and New Mexico are the only surprising ones; I'd suspect that the latter would still be D if you counted the white Hispanics who have lived there for centuries.

all this not counting Virginia, Oklahoma, Florida or Tennessee.

whites with bachelor's degree or higher make up 63% of the voting populating in Colorado so that's why they are more to the left as opposed to other states.

I was under the impression that whites with Bachelor's degrees were pretty reliably Republican (though that could be changing given the GOP's recent stances).

Of course, once you get to higher than Bachelor's degrees, you start seeing a trend towards the Democrats.

it seems like being close to Canada or being near a major body of water helps the democrats performance among whites, the gulf and southern atlantic coasts and Colorado are the exception however.

I'd like to see this too. What are we using for the data here? CNN's 2008 exit polls? Those don't have the results for the vote distribution of every race in all the states unfortunately.
