… for putting up with me over the duration of my 20,000 posts around here. That is a lot of Torie to put up with!  I appreciate the kindness and courtesy most of you have extended to me.  Putting aside the outliers, who tend to just fade away over time, I value your intelligence, your knowledge, your humor, and your civility. I hope I have added some value to you all over the course of my posting career, if only because I have been around since the creation, and so just have accreted a lot of trivia in my memory banks, which I enjoy sharing with you.

And yes, I enjoy sharing all my words with you – which are my favorite toys.  Out of respect for you really, I don’t dumb down my posts. I enjoy using those words (who knew?), that I think best express what I want to say, and for those you don’t know, do you look them up?  Hopefully, you have found at least some of interest to you, and might find useful to you in the future.  Did any of you look up “bowdlerize?”  I learned that one reading a case in law school.  Smiley

I also appreciate your being patient with my didactic tendencies.  As I slowly fade away, not with a bang, but with a whimper, I find I really enjoy being something of a teacher, which I guess that I can sort of get away with, being a part of the acien regime – a veritable fossil from another era.  And of course, I am exposed to so much about which I know next to nothing from you. Skapunk baby!

It is interesting. One of my best friends I made from a financial site, a man whose erudition laps mine. And I have made some good friends here too – one of whom at least is in the same category.  What can be better than that?  I must say however, that I do very much regret the absence of JS.  For myself, and no doubt for "Grumpy" Gramps, the loss of that most arresting of the trio of olds, just reminds us that as with aesthetics,  the best things come in threes. Two is just too prosaic and monogamous.

Now if you all can just tolerate my Mittbot tendencies for a bit …  Tongue

Best to you all,

Steve

Looks like you're not dead yet.

I wonder when I get my poll. LOL.  Odd little exercise here that the culture of this site embraces.

Get 20,000 posts, and then you'll get a poll.

It takes about 4 years at 10-15 posts/day.

I will probably assume room temperate before hitting that number.

Thank you, Torie, for your 20,000 magnificent posts.  And thank you in advance for the next 20,000, from which we will all learn even more.

Brains and genuinely human aesthetics are always a winning mix.

Two toasts, one to the past and one to the future.
Cheers!

Did you create a file of memorable and important quotes for every poster?

No, he's just younger than you, hugely intelligent, and hasn't ruined his memory with pot.

Congrats, and you're more than welcome. Alas, though I have been active for 8 years, my pace of 2 posts/day will keep me out of the 20K club until somewhere around 2032.

I learned that word (along with a great many others) from W. S. Gilbert.  Tongue
