My company gets a tax break from the state of Florida and recieves five thousand dollars for every convicted felon they hire. Do you agree with this and is this a good policy? I vote no. I believe the chances for a dangerous work enviroment skyrocket if companies are encourages and "bribed" for hiring ex-felons.

Uh, no.  Who the heck thought up that idea?

From what I understand when my company hires a regular person with no criminal record they recieve a 2500 dollar tax break. But when they hire an ex-con they recieve 5000 dollars.

I'm at a complete loss to imagine what that policy's inventor thought it would improve...

I think it's mostly because they fire them so quickly. Usually in under a year and they still get the break for just hiring them.

I think it's to let ex-cons reform or whatever.

Bad idea. Stupid idea.

Good one!  The programming itself is the felony - of course as yet unprosecuted.

Isn't it obvious?!  Felons can rarely find work of any kind, which is one of the main reasons for recidivism.  This program is designed to try to reduce this.

That said, with what jobs pay these days, committing felonies makes a lot of sense.

No kidding. I guess Ohio should have really been a 60% Bush landslide.

Today a DWI is usually a felony. Does that mean that Dubya voted for Kerry?
