Michael Bennet would probably be my first choice, too, actually.

Bennet was born in India, sorry.

To US citizens and thus he is a US citizen by birth; based on my understanding of the Natural-Born Citizen Clause, he would be eligible.

What about that? Schweitzer has bipartisan credentials and is able to work across the aisle? Is there something wrong with "A Democrat And A Republican Working Together For Montana"?

You can have bipartisan credentials without going full moderate hero.

One could argue that having Bohlinger was necessary to win. At that time, Montana had gone Republican in 1996, 2000, and 2004, and a Democrat hadn't been governor for 20 years. A Republican had held the House seat for 8 years, and Conrad Burns was one of the Senators. Without having such bipartisan credentials as a Republican running mate, Schweitzer was able to eke out a victory. And it wasn't like Schweitzer paired up with someone like Tom Coburn; Bohlinger is a liberal Republican (more like Susan Collins).

Precisely; Schweitzer is the Mitt Romney of the left.  Just do what's necessary to win.

I, myself, am no fan of the ever-shrinking center, either.  I just don't think that Democrats should feel they have to resort to pathetic things like this or hide how really they feel about issues to get elected.

Not in that way, hopefully.  That'd be Andrew or Hillary.

In fact, if Hillary changes her mind and jumps in, there will hardly be a need to have a primary. Tongue

Hillary seems kinda tired with politics in general (and I doubt Andrew could survive a primary).

Casey is pro-life, but he's not an anti-gay bigot.

One can be against gay marriage or civil unions and not be an anti-gay bigot. I happen to be just that.

This is the Democrats you're talking about. While, as mentioned, Casey might be pro-life, he's the minority. It's not really worth asking.

Just tossing a few names out: Mary Landrieu, Mark Pryor, Ben Nelson, Joe Lieberman, Zell Miller, Blanche Lincoln. If it isn't any of those, probably not.

I'd hardly call either of them right-wing.  And Warner was an extremely capable Governor, and has been a hard working Senator.
