Ok see my friend she always worries about the stocks(she checks them all the time on her iPhone) shes worried that the U.S economy will tank and there will be food shortages and stuff.

The US economy might tank and there might be food shortages.  She should have a plan.  Help her make that plan?  But being in S.Dakota it won't become the level of problem it will be for people in the largest cities.  Especially those on the east coast.  The odds of a complete collapse is very very low, but it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility.  Much more likely than a zombie apocalypse anyway

Refer her to a medical authority who specializes in anxiety. We live in the land of too much food. She should worry about diabetes.

If she can afford an iPhone, she can afford food.  If she's really worried about food shortages, tell her to stock up on food and sacrifice her iPhone.  But memphis is right... if this is truly anxiety, she needs to seek mental help.  If she's acting as you described, that's not mentally healthy/normal.
