Arlen Specter was on a C-SPAN call in program and told an Indiana caller to "vote for Dick Lugar!" An endorsement the Lugar camp will surely broadcast!

Odd for a Santorum supporter to be making association with Specter a big issue for some one else...

Specter didn't endorse Rick for President so it's not as big of a deal. And I've readily admitted that Specter's ties to Santorum still hurt him with some people in PA. It clearly hasn't mattered nationally.

Lugar isn't a Specter- far from it- but he should be retired. Too old and too squishy.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm praying for another black-yellow majority, and for the SPD to get shattered.  It's exactly what it deserves.

This changes everything, considering that a very high percentage of Hoosier GOP voters know who Specter is.

I'm sure his opponent and his Club for Growth buddies will take care of that.

Pragmatic conservative Republicans aren't as popular as they once were, unfortunately.

Please, Lugar is no  pragmatic "conservative."

But, I prefer Lugar ANYDAY over that moron Mourdock.

Dick Lugar seems like a nice person, and generally an inoffensive senator. And although I disagree with him on numerous issues, I'd proudly vote for him in the IN GOP Primary if I was an Indiana GOP Voter.

But, I also think this Specter endorsement will hurt him among Conservatives. But, it's not an issue for me just because I think Specter is supporting him out of spite, since Specter is a scumbag, spiteful person.

Hope Morduck wins, though even if he does Pubbies are still the favourites IMO.

I would have liked to see Lugar step down this year, but given who is challenger is and the negative, downright hateful spirit of his campaign, I will certainly be voting and campaigning for Lugar. Would have liked to see Stutzman run. Wink

Hope Morduck wins, though even if he does Pubbies are still the favourites IMO.

I wouldn't be so sure. There are a lot of Republicans who will be unhappy if their guy loses. The difference is that Mourdock supporters will either vote Libertarian or begrudgingly vote Lugar, and considering Lugar's support with Independents and even conservative Democrats, he'll win. However, if Mourdock wins the primary, a decent chunk of Lugar voters would vote Libertarian or even Donnelly. And once you factor in that Mourdock will be relying almost entirely on Republicans support to win the election, I truly believe this will be a "Toss-Up" race if Mourdock wins the primary.

Republicans have a lot of work to take back the Senate. Anyone who wants the GOP to retake the Senate in 2012 should be supporting Lugar, as no resources would need to be used here - he'd win easily. Republicans would be forced to actually fight to defend the seat if Mourdock wins.

I've met both Lugar and Mourdock. It's simply time for a change. Do I agree with Tmfth that Stutzman should've ran? Yes. Stutzman is pretty much a younger Mike Pence and would have my endorsement barring a Hostettler run.

As for "silent" Joe Donnelly, he's got no chance of winning.
