A picture that H.C. Strache recently posted on his Facebook page:

Together with the heading: "Für unser europäisches Abendland" ("For our European Occident").

Does that kind of "iconography" work in Austria?

Does that kind of "iconography" work in Austria?

Only in the segment of FPÖ/BZÖ and maybe CPÖ and a small part of the ÖVP electorate.

So, with about 35%-40% of the population.

Strache has about 120.000 Facebook followers, which is pretty good for a right-winger in a small country like Austria - and also in European context - when you put it into relation with the countries population.

But the FPÖ and BZÖ will attract about 1,5 million voters next year - so even the 120.000 Facebook followers are not that much.

And almost nobody from the other 8,3 million Austrians have seen this picture yet, so it doesn't really have an impact.
