Tough call between Johnson and Truman here, but I went with Johnson.
Very much alike too, those two. Difference is Johnson got things done on the civil rights front.

I also write-in Gerald Ford, but only in the ironic sense.

He's the only president ever to be totally unelected, fell over a lot, and made that stupid comment about East Europe.  What a guy.

Truman and Eisenhower were certainly competent presidents. Kennedy was very well respected for many good reasons. However, we've seen a real Dearth of Presidents in the last 40 years. I'd say either Clinton or Ford would be some of my choices since JFK's assasination.

Sometimes it isn't so much what presidents do, but it's what they don't do that actually makes them worthwhile. Most presidents who get into office have to put their own touches or leave their own imprint on our society. I say there's a lot to be said for leaving some things the way they are. That's why I didn't think Ford was all that bad of a president. Another thing about him is there seemed to be a long debate on how to get out of Viet Nam. Simple answer to that question is do what Ford did: Bring everyone home! Don't get me wrong, I voted for Ike in this poll, but I'm just using Ford as an example. I think Ike falls into this category of not changing policies too much. I believe he also has the least amount of political experience of any president since the end of WWII.
