Also, one of the Youtube commenters on the Santorum video suggested that he was going to say "government ninja".  Maybe Santorum almost spilled the beans on a secret government ninja program?

Politicians used to be able to say one thing before one audience and the diametric opposite in another without fear of getting caught with the contradiction that indicates that one is at the least  a fool if not a part-time liar. What might delight an audience in one place (think of the infamous "Real America" smear of urban America to an audience in rural Ohio) might horrify an audience 50 miles away in  Sodom and Gomorrah Columbus, Ohio whence came the TV crews.  That is over. One can't say that one will always side with the environment before the Sierra Club and that one will always side with Big Oil before the American Petroleum Institute and get away with it; someone will talk.

This can be said: there is no excuse for a white person uttering the N-word except in citing literature (Mark Twain relating some white people saying that nobody died when the boiler of a steamship exploded... "but a n---er got killed", relating the dehumanizing attitudes of white people toward blacks at the time), telling people what not to say,  or someone else's speech.

I found this by just doing a video search for Rick Santorum on YouTube.  His full 1 hour speech was the highest trending result on YouTube.  I click it and everybody is saying "34:22 lol" and that's where he said it.  The speech was given on March 27th, but it was only about three hours before I posted this did we get the first commenter who noticed what happened at that mark posted and the trend ensued.  

It's probably the freshest nig-the uh 'scandal' that we've all ever witnessed, so it's not surprising there's no media report on it.

Meanwhile, Santorum's campaign staff are searching desperately for a word that starts with "nig" that sounds plausible:

I have a tough time believing he was actually going to say that, but the way he completely changes his train of thought afterwards is definitely more than a little suspicious.

And this story is still picking up; there are now a few hits on Google's first page for "Santorum" that refer to this.

My guess is that calling Obama a "government nigga" is a campaign staff joke that accidentally slipped out.   If you ever listend to the LBJ and Nixon tapes, you'll know that every politician tells a mature joke insulting to his opponents in private.  I'm sure Obama has a few of his own.
