...besides being a wounded female veteran.
I really find Tammy Duckworth to be an inspirational person, so I find Walsh's remarks quite disturbing, moreso than usual.

Wow... a regular Saxby Chambliss over here...
I have seen this fella's rants and temper tantrums- he fancies himself a tough guy- he never served a day in his life... how dare he disregard the service of Colonel Duckworth- not only a Purple Heart recipient, not only a veteran, but the former Director of the Illinois VA and an Asst Sec in the DVA...

Compared to Saxby, Joe Walsh is in much worse shape. Saxby was running for the US Senate Seat from GA which is a red State in 2002,during a Republican leaning midterm election year. Before and after Saxby defeated Cleland, their was no evidence of any bad behavior other that being an opportunist. Regarding Walsh, he is running for re-election in IL-8 Congressional District which is a Blue District in a Democratic Presidential Election Year. Walsh is a scumbag before Duckworth became his opponent.

Because Republicans have no right to run in seats they probably cannot win.
Or else Mr Patel just doesn't know what "scumbag" means.

Well, he's yelled at people and told them not to blame the banks at all, he's promised to not work for his constituents (indirectly through saying that he wouldn't bring infrastructure projects to his district), he's straight-out called Obama a liar, he's ambled up to the news cameras whenever possible, he's failed to articulate a good re-election argument, and he's squeaked into office by less than 200 votes. Such hard work, you know.

...what? Walsh is a scumbag for other reasons entirely, reasons that precede and underlie his political career.

Amazing how lefties cut out the prior and following sentence!
“I have so much respect for what she did in the fact that she sacrificed her body for this country,”
“She is nothing more than a handpicked Washington bureaucrat. David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel just picked her up and dropped her into this district.”

I think the latter part of his commentary outweighs the first part.

Even Walsh admitted that he used "poor word choice" here.

Yes, it was poor word choice indeed. However, Walsh is certainly entitled to campaign on the fact that Duckworth is a liberal candidate favored by obama and tied to the obama administration and certainly not the candidate for conservatives.

Yes, because being "tied to obama" is such a tremendous liability in Illinois....

That's for the voters to decide. Walsh will presumably run the campaign that he feels will give him the most votes. This is a district in which President George W. Bush got almost 50% of the votes.

You and I both know Walsh will probably lose in a district that's more Democratic than the state as whole. He barely won in a 56% Bush district, now he's running in a 62% Obama seat. This is just the latest in a string of his gaffes.

It's an unfortunate thing, but when you present two somewhat contradictory points that you think are both right, you need to list first the one and then the other... and listeners or readers WILL assume the second is what you really think and the first was just included for rhetoric. Unless you hedge the second one real hard.
