The Search function.
«
on:

Is this not working for anyone else? I have tried over the last couple of days to use it (and from a few different computers at all) but it keeps saying that it can't access the search daemon. Is this happening to anyone else?
Perhaps I've missed some announcement or thread about this - it does seem a major issue with the site - but I haven't seen anything. Apologies if there is already something up.

Dave appears unwilling or unable to grapple with it.

Ya know you can use Google to search the message board. It's actually better at it.

Their function is to hang around and be constantly useful as a goad. The ultimate aim is not such humane small potatoes as repatriating refugees.

Ahh - that's what I ran my search for, so that's why it worked.

I'll echo dead0man's sentiments. When I'm looking for a thread it's easier to use google, type in the title and, add "atlas forum" or "uselectionatlas.org" on the end of it then to find it with the forum's search function.

Hi,
For now, I've relinked the search button to the Atlas google search page. Will take some research to figure out how to fix the sphinx search - the service provider was not very helpful in fixing the problem after the upgrade.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave, the new search function is significantly less useful. If the previous system was irreparable, fair enough, but otherwise could we possibly revert?

I miss the "find all topics by" search. Just throwing that out there.

It is hilarious that everyone thinks that because I had 3 hot dogs last night that I threw everything I was told earlier in the day out the window for good. That is absolutely hilarious. We've got a lot of comedians here.

Hi,
The search function has been restored. The new index will not be available until 3am or so. (current index is from July 30). Please limit use when the forum is slow.
Enjoy,
Dave
