Thanks Dave. Only one thing would make it better: appointing Torie as its mod.

I'm cool with being made a 2016 board mod, but it would have been nice if Dave would have asked us.  AndrewCT and/or Bacon King may or may not want to renew their gig from the 2012 board for 2016.  In any case, you asked Dave several months ago about having Torie replace (the now absent) Lunar as mod of Individual Politics, so it would be great if he could do that, or else make Torie mod of the 2016 board in place of one of the rest of us, and move the displaced person down to Individual Politics.

Or better yet, merge Individual Politics and Political Debate into one board, since it doesn't seem like there's a clear reason to have both.

Agreed, but I think lulz is more appropriate....spending his time wading in the cesspool that the board is guaranteed to turn into is lulz-worthy.

Well, my personal reaction was 'ugh'.  I didn't think about the board involved at all.

Very good, Dave, thanks!  Now, this guarantees that on the Atlas Forum and in reality we are 25 days from the kickoff of the 2016 Presidential Campaign! (Wednesday, November 7, 2012)

My earlier comment notwithstanding, I do think that the site would be better off if Inks left his position. (The fact that the village idiot has dropped in to express his support for him only confirms this.)

Unfortunately, I doubt Dave is still reading this thread.  You should make a thread titled "ATTN Dave: Error on the 1824 election map", and then say "Sorry, that was just a trick to get you to read this thread.  Can we talk about making Torie a mod?"

You know, when you put it like that I cheer up. In just ten months I'll start playing my favourite debate soundbites around the house, and just 15 months after that my local corner shop will start to devote half an aisle to election paraphernalia. Thanks Mr Morden!

*bump*

I made this thread four years ago to ask about when we would get a 2016 board.  Same question now applies to 2020.  Dave made the 2016 board on Oct. 11th, 2012, so if he doesn't make the 2020 board within the next week, he's behind schedule.

There's already active 2020 discussion on Presidential Election Trends.  Joe Walsh has already "pre-announced" his candidacy (assuming a Clinton victory this year), and Tom Cotton is visiting Iowa this weekend, following both Christie and Kasich visiting NH last month.  Plus all those possible candidates from both parties meeting with the Iowa and NH delegations at the conventions this summer.

So a lot's going on.  Should we have a 2020 board now?

I say it should be made the day after the election.  There's not much point in having it until we know who the incumbent will be (not that they will certainly run for reelection).

OK.  But you do realize that we're already talking about 2020 on the Presidential Election Trends board, since folks like Cotton and Kasich are already visiting early primary states?

That's a good point.  I wouldn't have a problem with that, I guess.

I think it makes sense -- people are effectively already running, so why not have a board separate from Trends to discuss the topic?

Still no 2020 board?  We're going to be flooded with 2020 topics in two weeks, regardless of whether that board exists at that point, so I hope Dave is able to set it up by then.
