Since I have yet to hear back from a moderator or Dave, I'm writing my appeal here. I was recently given two infraction points for jokingly calling someone disgusting. It just so happens that two points put me at 51 infraction points, placing me on Moderator Review. I was told that 75 points puts me on review for five days. Since I've been on for about three days, shouldn't this have expired by now? Also, isn't deleting my post (which, again, was a joke anyway) enough punishment?

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was bumped down to 49 a few months. As you can see, I wasn't given much wiggle room. And I still haven't been able to get a moderator to answer this: when do infraction points expire? I still have points from December.

I believe it's either 90 or 100 days.  What's your oldest infraction with points still?

I noticed that sometimes points are expired, but number on your profile page is not changing until next infraction.

Situation like: Got 10 points, five months later (when they are already expired) the number is still 10 on profile page. Then you're getting 5 next points and toral number is suddenly becoming 5.

It's a display error. Points don't get updated until something resolves. But it has no practical relevance.

Another system error?

It's not an error.  The database just doesn't update on it's own.  The table only reacalculates every time that person has a new thing to calculate (when a post of theirs has action taken on it).

I'm guessing Dave did it that way to have the computer process less, otherwise, if it had to calculate scores periodically (every night at midnight, for example), it would have to calculate EVERY poster's infractions, even if they have 0, and report that number, and we'd have lag in the system while it did that.

you should NOT be on moderator review after crossing 50 the second time...for me, it only happened after passing 50 and 75.  it didn't occur again the second time I crossed 50.

It depends on how long it is between when you cross the threshhold.  I don't know the exact timeframe - you'd have to ask Dave about that.

Removing the two points and then readding them dropped Phil's total from 51 to 44; my guess is that there was some system glitch that was not causing the older points to drop off, or perhaps the 90 or 100 day threshold for those seven points was crossed within the amount of time since the two point infraction was originally imposed.
