If Romney decides to go outside the safe zone, then if Gov. Walker manages to not just win, but trounce (5% or more margin) in the recall election in June, then I could see Romney choosing him as his running mate, but there is no other governor or ex-governor it might make sense to have on the ticket.

Definitely not gonna happen.  I strongly doubt Romney will pick a governor (current or ex-) as his running mate, and if does there are quite a few better choices than Huckabee.
