He would have been the nominee.  This is fact.  Never forget.

He was starting to implode even before/without that.

He didn't actually implode until like the fifth woman accused him of trying to start an affair. The Cain Train would have crushed Romney.

Which would have been a disaster.

BTW he didn't just "boink" those women, he sexually harassed them.

Obama would have conceded the election to him by now.

He would have been anointed Supreme Permanent Emperor by now.

In the history books, they'll have a chapter dedicated to 2012: When the Cain Train Rolled into Town.

It is complete nonsense to even think that Cain could ever have come anywhere near the nomination.

Pervan Cain was clearly beyond his depth as a candidate and far beyond his depth in his understanding of the issues, well before the sexual harassment details became widely known.

The wheels were destined to come off the Cain Roller Skates while he was using the campaign as an excuse while what he was really doing was hawking his stupid book.

I think he would have held onto things for a while.  Perhaps preventing the rise of Santorum and Gingrich.

> shows up to debates
> "NINE NINE NINE"
> only visits random states like Mississippi
> still leads Mitt Romney by 5-10%
> was still polling even with Romney (though behind Newt) after we heard from all the women

it's the little campaign that could.

Clarence has it right. Cain didn't know how to run a campaign and was stunningly uninterested in the details of public policy. There's a reason why major-party nominees typically have records of public service.

Without the allegations, my guess is that Cain would have finished 4th or 5th in Iowa and maybe 3rd in South Carolina.

No, but he'd be on the short list for VP.

He'd be where Newt Gingrich is now.

He'd be where Santorum is now (less delegates, though) but Santorum would've dropped out by now.
