Liberal National Committee Headquarters [Keystone Phil/Tmthforu94 endorsed]

Welcome. As newly elected Chair, I have decided to officially close the convention; this will now be the official thread.
Your party leaders are:
Chair:
Scott
Vice Chair:
Napoleon
Whip:
Wolfentoad
Our platform is as follows:
Quote
Official Liberal Party Platform
THIS PARTY
is hereby founded on the conviction that every Atlasian has the opportunity to succeed, to prosper, and to live freely in this great society. We resolve the debate over the role of government in our lives by demonstrating that it is neither the enemy nor the solution, but instruments to give our people the tools and conditions to make the most of their lives.
The Liberal Party
, as it shall forever be known, holds the following:
- That abortion is a woman’s right; we give our support to safe, accessible, rare, and legal abortion
- That free trade agreements are the best way to create prosperity, both in Atlasia and foreign countries, as long as they do not infringe on the ability of one to succeed
- That compassionate and realistic immigration policy expands economic opportunity and strengthens our nation
- That the family and the community are the primary units of society
- That the liberalization of sex and drug policies should happen at regional and federal level
- That we ought to, on a regional and federal level, avoid over-regulation on businesses
- That welfare is a second chance, and not a second way of life
- That government adopt as much of a non-intervention foreign policy as possible, while defending our borders against new security threats of terror, weapons of mass destruction, organized crime, and racial and religious conflicts, all without compromising our constitutional rights
- That the death penalty is barbaric and violates human rights
- That progressive taxation makes the tax code fairer, and creates the incentive for the top earners to spend and create jobs. New taxes, if necessary, should never be applied to low and middle income homes.
- That government should help the individual and the families, not corporations
- That the common worker is the centerpiece of our economy
- That LGBT citizens are entitled to the same rights and privileges as others, including marriage and child adoption
- That substance and results, not ideology or partisanship, are what move us forward

Press Release
The details for our upcoming Liberal National Convention are as follows:
Time:
June 1-3, 2012
Location:
Reliant Astrodome in Houston, TX
Current Schedule
Day One:
- Members sign in
- Discussion of business
Day Two:
- Speeches
Day Three:
- Elections for party leadership
If enough members feel it is necessary, I will include time to adopt a new platform at the convention. I am only reluctant to do so because of how long it took to come up with the one we have now.

Just popping in to congratulate you on your election as Chair and wish you the best of luck.
EDIT: Also, the supposedly mainstream conservative party is set to elect an actual fascist as their Chair? That's, uh,
interesting
. Anyway.

So I was contacted by good Governor Napoleon regarding joining the party. I presume this is the place to announce my decision to do so? If not, I do apologize.

LNC HQ (PRESS RELEASE: Bylaws to be voted on at convention)
«
Reply #14 on:
April 15, 2012, 04:50:33 pm »
Press Release
A proposal for party bylaws has been written by the Chair. These bylaws shall be officially voted on during the third day of the convention in June.
Quote
Official Liberal Party Bylaws
The Liberal National Committee
('Liberal Party') shall forever abide by the following rules and procedures as prescribed by this document.
Section 1. Party Officers
a. Bylaws and procedures shall be enforced by three elected officers.
The Chair shall be the leader of the party and be responsible for planning, opening, closing, and running conventions, writing new platforms and bylaws when needed, and representing the party.
The Vice Chair shall be deputy leader of the party and take the role of Interim Chair when the Chair is unable to fulfill his or her duties. He or she shall be responsible for membership recruitment, candidate recruitment, and assisting the Chair.
The Whip shall be the official vote counter for the party. He or she shall be responsible for counting votes (both on bylaws, platforms, and leadership elections) at conventions.
b. Party leadership shall be selected each February, June, and October of the year during the third day of the conventions.
c. Members interested in running for a leadership position may declare their candidacies at any time before conventions to appear on the ballot.
d. Terms for party leaders shall begin immediately after the elections are certified by the Whip.
e. Party leaders may be recalled if 1/4 of party members sign a petition for recall of that official(s) within a week of the day that the petition is posted on the Atlas Fantasy Elections board.
f. If a vacancy for any of the three leadership positions shall appear, a special election will be held at the following convention. If the Chairmanship becomes vacant, the Vice Chair shall assume the role until a new Chair can be selected, and the Vice Chair shall temporarily appoint someone to fill their former position. If the office of the Whip becomes vacant, the Chair shall temporarily appoint someone to fill their position. All vacancies must be filled by members of the party.
Section 2. Membership & Privileges
a. All party members that have been registered for at least 48 hours shall be allowed to vote in all primaries and conventions.
b. Members of other parties and unaffiliated voters are not permitted to vote in primaries, conventions, or other party matters.
Section 3. Conventions
a. Conventions shall take place each February, June, and October of the year, at least one week before the general elections. During these conventions, members may discuss general business and platforms, propose amendments to the platform and bylaws, deliver speeches, and vote for leadership and rule changes. Elections for party leadership and platform/bylaw changes shall be held on the third day.
b. The Chair will be obligated to plan the time and location of party conventions.
c. All conventions must run for at least three days. If a member feels that convention time shall be extended, he or she may motion to extend and have the motion seconded by at least two other members. Conventions cannot be extended to more than three additional days.
d. Emergency conventions shall be called if at least 1/4 of party members petition to do so within one week of the petition being posted on the Atlas Fantasy Elections board. If a sufficient number of party members sign, an emergency convention shall be held the following week.
Section 4. Primaries
a. In the event of multiple party members declaring their candidacy for an office that does not elect multiple people, there shall be a primary election. The voting method in the primaries shall be first past the post. The winner shall receive the automatic endorsement of the party for that office.
b. The Chair shall then notify the SoFE that the winner of the primary shall appear as the official Liberal candidate and that if the others refuse to drop out after the primary they shall be considered as "Independent" on the ballot.
Section 5. Endorsements
a. The Liberal Party may choose by majority vote to cross-endorse candidates from other parties running for federal offices, assuming no Liberal candidate is already in the race.
b. Should there be no Liberal candidate running, the endorsed candidate(s) shall appear under the Liberal ballot line.
c. The Chair shall inform the SoFE which candidates of other parties shall appear under the Liberal Party ballot line.

Seeing as you have the most swing voters, here is why you shouldn't endorse the whigs:
http://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=152205.0
Their proposals are obviously unrealistic. I(and hopefully the rest of Labor party) will not propose financially unrealistic legislation like that. All of the bills proposed by me will have clear proposals on how to raise revenue for them(if necessary). I am not exactly sure how Atlasia works, if the fiscal matters have to have a separate vote, but I will research the rules of the game and current tax structure so that all of the bills proposed by me fiscally realistic. See my thread to learn more.
