Why? A little caffeine and sugar - its similar to your tea, and less trouble.
Usually I drink a sugary caffeinated soft drink (Coke in Thailand, Mountain Dew in the Bad Place) immediately upon waking up - I mean I just reach into the fridge without even putting on my glasses, such is the immediate need for sugar and caffeine.
However that may very likely be the only such beverage I consume all day, or perhaps just one more.

Pepsi Max tastes an awful lot like those little cola-bottle shaped pieces of candy you had as a child would taste after having been melted and hen cooled down again into a sickening syrup. This is an objective fact.
And I don't really care either way, but marginally prefer Pepsi.

No sugar! Very bizarre. I can't drink hot drinks first thing in the day - can only drink coffee on a full stomach - and tea also be preferable after a small meal or light snack.

I don't drink soda except for when I mix with my booze, and if it's a cola product than it has to be Coke. I don't know why, but I can't stand Pepsi. Overall, I always prefer diet ginger ale.
