Mr. Bush, the election is not next weekend, no no you cant run for Governor of the NE seeing that Ohio is not in the Northeast region.

That's happened to other people before.  I think it's just some weird bug.

If you are talking about the Mideastern region, it is not to late to run.  The election is January 21-23.

George W. Bush,

According to the SoFA office you are registered in Texas. I checked back through your posts, and your last registration was in Texas, so its not an error on their part.

I changes my name, Its now
George W. Bush
Texas
Republican

So technically you don't even live in the Mideast Region at all.

You can't yet.  You can only change your state once every four months; the earliest you can switch to Ohio will be April 5.

You can't yet, but in the meantime...put "Reg'd in Texas" in your signature so your votes count in elections OR change your avatar from R-OH to R-TX.

GWB, you can just delete your account and register again.

We should get rid of that stupid rule.

We should get rid of that stupid rule.

The reason for that rule is to prevent people from moving to a state, voting there, and then immediately moving away again.  It's not stupid at all.

IIRC we used to have a twenty day rule whereby you cannot vote within twenty days of moving state. The reason we made the state rule was that a few people kept changing states almost every day.

We need to make a rule against that.

Well, you could still move to a state twenty days before an election, vote there, and then immediately move away again.  I think it is beneficial in the way I said above, even if it wasn't intended to be that way.

Certain parties would flood certain states in order to rig the vote, then move their voters back again.

See KEmperor's response.  Elected representatives are supposed to be representative (gosh!) of their constituents.  If people were allowed to move to a state, vote, and the move back again, there's a very distinct possibility that the person elected would not be representative of his or her actual constituents.
