This is what the map would look like. The <20% is for Badnarik.

If only intelligent people voted, George W. Bush and John Kerry would not be their parties' nominees.

And Bush would have lost the general to a soggy noodle.

He wouldn't have been running in the general and you would have been ineligible to vote.

Kerry easily won those with post-graduate degrees.

And Bush easily won whites without a college education.

I said intelligent people. Not people with post-graduate degrees, which is not indicative of anything.

The most intelligent people generally end up with the most money. And yes, they went overwhelmingly for Bush.

Kerry, like every Democrat in every election since WWII, also won the vote of those with less than a high school education.  So, enough of the post graduate went for Kerry stuff.  So what.

Exit polls actually showed that the percentages of people with pretty much every level of education who voted for either Bush or Kerry were within the margin of error, except for those with postgraduate degrees, who went to Kerry 55-45%.

Kerry landslide! There are some smart Republicans, but there are more smart Democrats.

How ridiculous!  You have no understanding of where wealth comes from.

No, a bunch of idiots such as yourself inherit wealth, but the statistical truth is that the vast majority of wealth is earned, which requires real intelligence, and not a "post-graduate degree."

I certainly agree with you that a post-graduate degree doesn't necessarily require intelligence.  I just don't see any reason to believe that acquiring money does either.  Plenty of merely lucky or workaholic people are successful aquistive types, and there are plenty of intelligent also-rans.  I think you would like to believe that aquisition of wealth imparts some Calvinistic mark of superiority upon the aquirer, when really it is just an ethically neutral condition.

Philip - do you have data or link or source to support this statement?  This thread has a ring of a "data-free conversation".

I completely disagree with your statement.

Wealth is not the be all and end all, in fact far from it I would say. There far more important things in life than money and when people come to realise that, I think they will be a lot happier. Money won't fill that whole inside of you, no matter how much you stuff inside it, it won't fix everything, it won't make things right.

Money doesn't make someone happy, which is why I would say that many of the most intelligent people in the world aren't rich, they are smart enough to realise this, that there are far more important things in life than this. Making a difference, be it moving the whole world, or just one person, it will make you feel a lot happier and better inside than accumulating wealth ever could which is why I say that intelligence and wealth aren't connected, because those who realise this are the smartest of all.

Actually Philip I believe this isn't true, wealth is very unevenly distributed, far more so than income is which suggests that the most wealthy are far wealthier than those with a high income.

Well if only intellegent people voted Bush and Kerry would not have been the nominees. Maybe a Dick Cheney vs. Joe Biden Presidential Race would be more likely. Third Parties would also do better since most of their voters are highly educated and politically astute.

This thread really isn't going to go anywhere further than partisan name-calling and "we're better than you" 'debates'.

Both major parties have intelligent people.  They also have stupid people.  But IQ doesn't decide politics.

This thread was intended to be a joke. I do remember hearing that only about 10-20% of wealthy people inherited the money, but it wasn't online, and I don't have a link to support it.

Well, any time money is speant, someone is earning it. So yes, a lot of money is inherited, but it sounds impossible to me for the vast majority of wealth not be earned.

I don't know who Ron Artest is.

The basketball player who was the main player in the big NBA brawl recently. Where he knocked out a few fans and got suspended for the entire season.

My point is, not all rich people, especially athletes, are smart.
