It might happen of course (in the case of a GOP landslide) but I'd say it's more unlikely than not.
And it will certainly never be less democrat than the nation as a whole.

Meh, maybe when I'm in my 40's or 50's. I see the real "shift" in the parties happening sometime between 2030 and 2040, so I would be in my 30's. The "shift" I'm referring to is the GOP becoming more Libertarian and the Democrats becoming more Authoritarian/Populist/maybe even Socialist a bit.

Yes, once the GOP trends to being a party more centered around economics (we're seeing it more with the Young Guns--the Bush era was the high water mark of the religious right)
A battleground California in 40-50 years may be blacks, the Bay, and working-class Hispanics (the latter has heavily integrated by this point) against white suburbia and rural NorCal.

Many of the posters are teenagers and can live another 60-70 years. What makes you think the current two party system will survive that long?

I'd say the breaking point is forty, if you don't die before then you will probably live to be over 60.

Yeah, I don't turn 100 until the 2090's. So I would put money on my yes vote. Though I don't plan on living past 25, so maybe not.

If Obama wasn't on the ballot in California for 2012, then it would happen sooner than later.

Take a look at what is going on in a bunch of state legislature's, the GOP is still all about shoving religion into every single piece of public policy.

I don't think so, but I'm not confident that the Democratic party will always win it.

They've been a lot less successful than they were in the past.
