You know what they say, America.  Once you go black, you never go back.

Unless you're a Republican.
Not so.  I expect the GOP Corey Booker recruiting effort has already begun.

Maybe?

Nope, already tried. He ended up giving out taxpayer money late night on the tube. We want the real deal this time - Cory Booker. No substitutions.

Chris Christie and the facebook will make it happen.

I wonder if 2016 might be too soon. America might not be ready for 2 black Presidents in a row.

As if my mancrush on him wasn't great enough. He's pretty much the coolest politician in America today, and actually knows how to govern.

I highly doubt he will run for Governor in 2013, though. Christie's approval rating is pretty high. I'd expect Booker to be a candidate for 2020/2024/2028, though. He's young enough to be on the national stage for the next thirty years.

My hunch is that, assuming Obama is reelected this year, Christie steps down after one term and starts running for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.  If he's interested in national office, then why take the risk of losing in 2013?

Booker should either run for Senate in 2014 or run for Governor in 2013 and run for re-election in 2017, then run for POTUS in 2020.

Booker is my favorite politician in the nation and has been since his election.

Booker wants to be Senator, not Governor, and he's eying Lautenberg's seat.

As for the notion that he would easily beat Christie, that's hogwash. People with 59% approval ratinga rarely lose re-election.

Coming from New Jersey will be a big obstacle for Booker to vault in any presidential campaign.

Booker going for Senate would leave him to decay and fossilize without being able to do anything, though.  Sad

Why not?  The people who haven't moved beyond race are going to vote Republican regardless.

Could he defeat Christie in 2013?

Yes, but I dunno if he'd be a sure thing, and he might prefer to wait until 2017 or whatever.
