This is something that's upsetting most people on my mother's side of the family, even those who aren't Catholic anymore, because the church mentioned in the first sentence is where they grew up and where all the kids were either baptized and/or confirmed. It was known to be coming for quite awhile, especially after the long time priest died last year.

What I found interesting though after being sent the article is the contrast with the church I'm going to now holding a campaign to raise funds so they can buy their own building, because they are growing too fast for the space they are renting now to accomodate everyone. So basically polar opposites. So why is this? I mean the story above isn't uncommon or surprising to people, but it's interesting to think about why it does happen so frequently, since the contrast shows this isn't due to increasing secularization solely.
