Like others, I'll vote for Vermont, but I felt the need to state my uncompromising hatred for New Hampshire.

Frozen out of focus, the sunday crowd started dreaming of television turned up too loud. And coded conversations, half baked and tired, Left us sleepy on blacktops burning the motor mile. And underneath the arcade, details collide. There's good shopping, but all those patrons have too much style...

Aside from the boring wealth and its reputation as the second home for all of the wealthy of New England, the state's political persona basically represents some of the absolute worst of American politics, from my perspective.
Self-important to the nth degree, swings like crazy (particularly on the state level), the state motto is the sort of hilarious stuff I expect teenage libertarians to live by ("Live Free or Die"? Give me a f**king. break.) but most of all, they're basically the Independent Voter of the fifty states. No real ideological tendency aside from drifting toward the one that looks more moderate and soft-spoken, following right through on the caricature of the Independent Voter that tends to make a decision based on the aesthetics of a candidate beyond anything else.
Because they're "independent minded!" You can't predict them! Those voters are on a higher plane of existence than the rest of us ideologues! They demand
attention
and
excellence
! You won't be putting them in any sort of box!
Gag.

ITT: People who have never been to Vermont (or any New England state) declaring it's "clearly" the best one.
I've never been to America though, let alone New England.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm praying for another black-yellow majority, and for the SPD to get shattered. It's exactly what it deserves.
