Your headline is false and misleading. Attending a fundraiser is not "personally fund[ing] abortions." In addition, I am not sure planned parenthood was as associated then (1994) with abortion as now. I only became aware of the nexus in recent years myself.

It is indeed going to be a long campaign year, as the partisans around here put up stuff that each campaign is hawking.

The entire GOP field has made very clear they believe any funding of PP is paramount to funding abortions. Romney 1.0 was evidently a funder. As for your claim (Which I'm sure Romney would be glad to parrot) of not to know PP is involved with abortion, all I can say is Roll Eyes Anybody break the truth to you guys about Santa Claus yet?

Mittens' attendance at AP was in 1994. Where you even alive then? Smiley

I certainly was, as I was in 1984. I'm not shocked that you're trying to change the topic and move into ad hominem, but I'm suprised somebody of your longevity would want to make a snide comment regarding somebody's age.

Sorry, I didn't mean to put you down, and didn't realize you were that old anyway.  I was merely trying to emphasize that AP may have had a different image then - they certainly did with me, perhaps out of my ignorance, perhaps not, whatever.

Even if he just attended, it's still pretty embarassing for a new MITTBOTT... what's the number again?

Well, they're downloading generalelection.exe, so it's probably about 2.5 now.

I'm not very good with artificial intelligence, though, so I wouldn't know much.

Romney has said his views on abortion have matured since 1994.

A far as I'm concerned, this is old news.

The 1992 case Planned Parenthood v. Casey which set the current standard on abortion is but one of many contentious abortion-related cases they have been a part of and conservatives have been trying to defund PP since the 80's.  Given your ignorance, I assume that back then, abortion was not an issue you cared about much.  It is difficult to view attendance at a 1994 PP fundraiser as anything other than being a pro-choice Republican, which there were still some back then.

They've always been associated with abortion since it was legalized. It's not a recent thing.

Semi-related trivia:  Prescott Bush (patriarch of the Bush clan) was Planned Parenthood's first national treasurer.

When I read the title I was hoping he'd knocked some young mistress up and had to pay for her abortion.  Alas, its not nearly so nice.

Sheer desperation in dredging up something from 18 years ago, and likely taking it out of context.

Let's think this outloud, who exactly changes their pov on abortion completely from the age of 47 to 65!? I mean the only thing that has changed is that he's running for the Republican Party nationally versus Massachusetts, where he was more liberal than the man he lambastes for turning this country into Europe.

Right, were black people even allowed to be Mormons 18 years ago?

I guess Mitt Romney has 'matured' on his views.
