Second Amendment to the Caucus Infrastructure and Formation Act

The following shall be added to the Caucus Infrastructure and Formation Act as Section 6:

1. The Senate may suspend this act if the top two parties comprise less than two-thirds of citizens registered with a political party via a resolution.
2. If the act has been suspended and the top two parties comprise more than two-thirds of citizens registered with a political party, the Senate may put it back into force via a resolution.

1. Independents are hereby allowed to register with a caucus.

2. Any Independent that wishes to register with a caucus must do so in the New Register thread.

I like Jake's amendment, but I don't get what the purpose is of the first bill.  That's why I'm not volunteering to sponsor it.

It basically gives us the ability to shut the bill down in the absence of the RPP and JCP, without needing to have a Presidential signature.

Because it has been irrelevent since the dissolution. We have a grand total of one recognized caucus right now: The Right to Life Caucus. No one else has even bothered to make one.

Both these bills were written before the dissolution vote when no one was sure what would happen to the JCP and RPP. That's why no one would have done that.

Yes, let's do that.  I've never understood the necessity of the caucuses as they were formed.

If a bunch of people want to gather and start a caucus or a group for some cause, then they are allowed to do so.  But legally recognizing something that no longer serves a purpose just doesn't seem necessary.  Caucuses practically are political parties and most of the caucuses already became parties after the JCP and RPP dissolved.

Yeah; I'm just not sure what caucuses do.  I found the restrictions placed on their use (e.g., your party must be this tall to enter, your caucus must be this large to count) wounded their practicality, too.
