Mitt Romney used a shuttered drywall plant in Ohio as a backdrop for his message that President Obama has failed to create jobs, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The only problem: The plant closed four years ago during President George W. Bush's administration.

Four years ago the governor of Ohio was a Democrat. Fail.

Exactly.  This incident should be of great use to Mitt Romney in his upcoming campaign against Ted Strickland.

Yeah, I guess this was a flub given it's purpose, though it's no big deal. I was just defending the Bush Administration, which gets attacked for everything that happened under it, even though there were other politicians and political parties involved.

But this incident does highlight the problem with the narrative for this race, 'the recovery is too slow' doesn't really work going up against 'the economy is recovering', so the Romney campaign is going to have to distort some things if the economy doesn't take a downturn. That's politics.

So you say the only way Romney can win is to lie and convince voters to buy it?

Don't expect a call back from their campaign anytime soon.

The Obama campaign is already lying about Romney, taking his comments about the poor, ect. out of context, and that's only the beginning. Every campaign lies and distorts, that's how the game is played. The American people have a very short attention span when it comes to politics, they aren't going to look up the candidate's records, complete statements and whatnot. Obama lied to his own party in regards to NAFTA, and has admitted he's going to be moderate until he has more 'flexibility' to Russia.

This isn't a flub. Romney knew what he was doing. I think his direct message was "a good president would have had this factory reopened by now--this is no recovery."

Not a bad message.

This is the same Romney who said that Bush and not Romney prevented a Great Depression.

px is singularly focused, so it doesn't matter if it's a slow news day.

Yeah, I can't imagine there are many, if any, people out there who were all ready to go out and vote for Mitt in November but changed their mind because of this.

Yeah, just like the day John Kerry decided to go windsurfing.

It is funny watching some Republicans get all defensive about Romney.

Just admit it, the man blows as a candidate.

He's alot better than McCain so far. Less gimicky, more direct and hardhitting in his attacks, ect. As long as he stays on message, this is an improvement.

McCain kept trying to hit the long ball and whiffing.  Romney won't try to hit home runs, but it looks like he'll leave the tying runs on the bases.
