I have to major pet peeves-
Chickenhawks- those who ducked service in Vietnam especially but act all macho in office. Saxby Chambliss is hte ultimate example as he attacked Max Cleland- a triple amputee Silver Star recipient- as not having the "courage" to lead when he received five deferements... it is a shame on the Republican Party that he now serves on the Armed Services committee.
Second- those who did not serve but act like an expert on military affairs... a great example of this happened during a 2008 Dem debate... see this for a second
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTc_ztwOdcIIn that video- Biden begins by saying that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a Marine Corps General and combat veteran of the Vietnam War, is "flat wrong" on the issue of gay marriage. I happened to agree by the way- I was fine with repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell. However- he went on to say that he knew more then Pace as he had been to Iraq and Afghanistan on taxpayer-funded Senate field trips...many of us who are veterans took the utmost offense at this. Congressmen who visit are takn to the safest areas and pampered and cause a disruption in tasks but even if that wasn't the case- some one who received as many deferments as Joe Biden should NEVER claim that he knows more then a Marine Corps General and the highest ranking member of the Armed Forces. If Pace was in favor of repealing DADT and Biden was opposed I would feel the same way... it is shameful and disgusting and this alone makes me despise Joe Biden, despite having no other issue with him
