Quote
Virgil Goode has won the Presidential nomination of the Constitution Party on the first ballot, winning a majority of 203 votes. He made it clear, prior to the vote, that his choice for Vice Presidential candidate is outgoing Chairman Jim Clymer of Pennsylvania. Clymer is, by far, the favorite now to win the Vice Presidential nomination of the Constitution Party–it’s not known to us here at IPR whether he faces an opponent.

Scoring 203 of 403 possible votes, Goode won on the first ballot with 50.37%. 2 less votes would’ve pushed the issue to a second ballot.

UPDATE: Final vote was Goode – 203, Castle 120, Ducey 15, Roth 6, Wells 58.

Don't see him getting much more than Baldwin in 2008: about 200K votes.

I suppose if Obama wins VA by only a few thousand, perhaps we can blame Goode.

Didn't Goode first get involved in politics as a pro-choice State Senator closely tied to Douglas Wilder? Some people are quite the political chameleons.

Even then, I doubt it.  Goode has very little support; remember he lost in 2008 in the 5th District, which Obama won.  I can't see Goode having any impact, even in his former District, much less Statewide.

You mean McCain.
I see him getting 15-25 K votes statewide, though as much from being a conservative notRomney as from being from the state.

You mean McCain.

Wow, this is embarrassing.  I was sure that Obama won the 5th.

He's moved from D to I to R to C. Quite amusing really.

EDIT: Actually according to Wikipedia he went form D to I to D to I to R to C.

Jim Clymer will be his VP.

Officially the most boring ticket on the ballot this year.

Virgil Goode?

Has even the Constitution Party become a joke now?

I mean really, this is like the Libertarian Party nominating Bob Barr for President.
