Her death was so sudden, so unexpected, that it still isn't real to me.  The tears will come later, right now I'm still in shock.

it won't be real for a little while.  my unconscious has yet to accept the fact that my grandmother died, close to two years later now -- she pops up in dreams fairly consistently, always the theme is "hey grandma, I haven't talked to you in a long time".

Yes she did. Thank you all for condolences. The funeral is this Friday and then her boys might come down to live with us. I don't know what will happen.

A few months ago she had a corrective surgery done on one of her feet to remove her bunyan.  The surgery failed miserably, creating nerve damage in the foot and causing her to develop a disease called RSD which is a sort of degenerative nervous disease where over a period of time the pain spreads all over one's body.  Understandably, she was on a combination of pain medications.  I'm not sure exactly what went wrong, but for whatever reason a certain combination caused her heart to stop Sunday night.  My little cousin found his mother lying facedown in the bath tub, blue and without a pulse.

The reception is tomorrow and burial Sunday.  If any of you pray, pray for strength for my family.

Very sorry to hear it. You and your family are in my thoughts and, should I remember, my prayers. As someone who lost a parent around a year and a half ago, I know how you feel. Accepting it is so huge. I honestly don't know what happened to myself. I think my mind sort of blanked out the tragedy after a little bit and somehow got used to it. But before that, every time I heard the keys jangling in the door, my mind suddenly flashed to my Dad coming home from work (as a church organist he had an unorthodox schedule). However, it was never him. I hope you can keep your aunt in your memories and remember that she existed, and remember whatever affect she had on your life.

I'm back from NC.  The burial was emotional but afterwards the family went back to my grandmother's house to eat and get together.  The boys are taking it much better than I expected.  We played some basketball and I got trashed by uncle (looks can decieve!).

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
