This could be a sleeper race for the GOP, especially if Martinez is selected as Romney's VP. Never underestimate the powers of Heather Wilson. Never.

How does she run 10 points ahead of Romney? I mean, sure, she survived 2006, but it's almost as tall an order as Lingle's in HI.

Wilson survived 2006, but Heinrich survived 2010.  Before her, Steve Schiff held the office until he died and before that Manuel Lujan was appointed Nixon's Interior secretary.  The election is always close, but it always goes for the incumbent.   Survival in NM-1 is not the sign of a "fighter."

Especially Wilson, who had ridiculously bad opponents.
