(1) What is your ideological affiliation? What is your partisan affiliation (if any)?

(2) What TV, print and non-print media do you get your news from?

(3) What is your religious affiliation and how often do you attend services?

(4) Do you own a gun?

Do any of these "stick out" in terms of your political views? (i.e. a conservative Republican who reads the NYT; a liberal Democrat who owns a gun and attends church every week).

"It would misunderstand these men and women to say that they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization's oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right."

I suppose I could choose a less capitalist-friendly organisation for my news, and, at a stretch, my non-ownership of weaponry rules out any possibility in me playing a part in an insurrection, but I imagine if the latter were taking hold there'd be an avenue for obtaining one.

1. "New Democrat"
2. CNN, DailyKos, I also read RedState from time to time for balance.
3. Congregationalist/UCC/Progressive-type Christian.  I do not attend church mainly because my parents don't like organized religious and my mom is of a different sector than me (Catholic).  I will be attending church regularly after I start living on my own.
4. No, but I plan to.

1. Democratic Socialist.

2. MSNBC, but this is by process of elimination more than outright preference. Fox is terrible, but CNN is, I would argue, worse than Fox, just by virtue of not even really trying to be anything. Fox's operation is more respectable, but still evil. Otherwise, Google, Wikipedia, Huffington Post.

For Canadian news, The Toronto Star. For the UK, The Guardian. The Economist is also moderately entertaining/informative.

3. Atheist, but no chip on my shoulder or need to throw it in people's faces.

4. No, I dislike guns but loathe excessive gun ownership in particular. I'm more personally afraid of them than anything else, when it comes to my own handling of them.

(1) Democrat- Blue Dog.

(2) HuffPost, DailyKos Elections, Politico, The Young Turks.

(3) Catholic (non-practicing).

(4) I don't personally own a gun, but many people in my family do for hunting.

I guess the strangest thing for me is that I'm a social conservative, but I'm not very religious.

1. Socialist, Democratic
2. The Internet. Don't really actively consume any regular news services nowadays.
3. Muslim. Pray five times a day, obviously, and go to the mosque on Friday when I'm free; in other words, about half the time.
4. I can't imagine why I ever would.

Number 3 sticks out, obviously, in terms of level of religiosity.

(2) BBC, CNN, CBS, Time, aljazeera.net, and via chats with people.
(3) Agnostic atheist; I only go to religious services during funerals.
(4) I own two guns, a bow, and might acquire a couple more later.

It sticks out that I am gun-friendly and avoid social news websites.

I believe the simple truth is that they became somewhat alarmed when they realized that I really meant to write what I believed. There is a peculiar parallel between some of our great Northern "liberals" and some of our outstanding Southern liberals.

Some of the people in both classes share the deep-seated convictions that only their convictions can possibly be the right ones. They both inevitably say the same thing: "We know the Negro and what is best for him."

(1) Progressive center-left type liberal/renewable energy wonk (though not actually that green)/public healthcare wonk. I'm not actually a registered Democrat, but I figure that I'm associated with the progressive wing of that party.

(2) Salt Lake Tribune, Deseret News, NPR, MSNBC, forums that are interested in current news

(3) Mormon, attend services every week, and attend a religious class two or three times a week.

(4) No, and I never want to have a gun. I'm okay (if uncomfortable) with others having them, but I just don't want to personally own firearms.

The fact that I'm a Mormon and am in any way more liberal than Ronald Reagan sticks out, yes. As does my dislike of guns.

Only if I were in the army, but I'm not. My brother, for example, has a typical Swiss Army assault rifle at home but he hasn't got any ammunition.
