Never heard of it, and have a 'romantic life' similar to buying Coke at the 7-11, so...

is the only youtube link that came up when I searched for 'first as tragedy, then as farce' - I don't see how it fits 'first as tragedy, then as farce', nor how it could apply to the 'love life'.

No, because I don't have a romantic life to consider a tragedy.

Literate and stylish (literate and stylish)
Kissable and quiet (kissable and quiet)
Well that’s what girls dreams are made of
And that’s all you need to know (and that’s all you need to know)
You have it or you don’t (you have it or you)
You have it or you (don’t)

I have gotten into the habit of looking to youtube for information and wikipedia for amusement - perhaps I've got it backwards.
Anyway I suppose it makes sense if you mean you have a 'serious love' - one that you are really taken with - and then after you lose her (tragically) you replace her with some sort of poor facsimile, and then proceed to feel rather ridiculous and frustrated. Is that what you're getting at?
Its hard for me to remember about these feelings, they're very long ago. Anyway its all uphill till 30-ish and then all downhill.

I was implying a consistent subject - first these immutable obstacles prevent the star-crossed lovers from a full-borne consummation, and then once the obstacles are removed, the pulling of the curtain reveals no Wizard was there to begin with.

Oh, like the plot of a romantic comedy. No, I never found that to be the case at all. Comes of being lazy I suppose.

Give us more information on the gal so we can advise- it'd be very different if you're talking about the love of your life or if you're talking about a one-night stand with some trollop you picked up at a biker bar...

not speaking of a specific person: the theme I have built I can apply to a multitude of situations, not all of them directly involving Young Tweed.

I find it hard to imagine that tweed or really any posters here could manage to visit a biker bar. I for one would be afraid to enter such a place.

Biker bars are nothing compared to decades ago... I was never seriously into any motorcycle club but when my wife and I used to travel all over on my Wide Glide the policy of the Outlaws was to kill Angels on sight...usually led to some bad brawls...now they are much more clubs then gangs

Why would it be something one applies deliberately?
With my ex-girlfriend it's true in the sense that the same conflicts that made me break up are repeating themselves between us now that we are no longer together, in a manner that is often a bit comical.

In short it's Hegel quoted by Marx quoted by Zizek quoted by Tweed.
