The last of 20RP12's deluge.

Again, 24 hours to pick this up, if no one wants it I am going to make it vanish the quick and simple way.

I'd encourage the Senate to at least discuss the idea of making some cuts.

Jake, where specifically did you make cuts?

A link to the budget that is in effect now would be convenient to compare this with.  But as for the current bill, I strongly oppose section 1 and definitely will not vote for this bill if it remains in the final text.

Not going to sign this in anything close to this form... I will be presenting a Budget next week for Senate consideration. There will be spending cuts and consolidations, as well as small revenue increases.

I am open to cuts...but the Atlasian health care act is already in the process of being reformed so that is off the table. We are making $3 Trillion dollars in cuts (using Washington calculations)!!!!! What more can one want?

I may pick this up but I have a question for 20RP12- did you intentionally leave out interest on debt?

Something to keep in mind: this would mean a lot of changes in specific laws that have been passed.

It might, but really I was just pointing to the fact that a lot of the items in these budgets are the results of specific laws.  I was thinking somewhat of how that would need to be handled in the wiki if this passed to be clear which laws are still in effect or are amended.

Something I should point out is that I had been planning anyway to do an update of the budget in the next week or so anyway since there have been some changes due to new laws, fiscal calendar stuff, etc.  I was going to wait to see if the new healthcare law passed first, but instead I'll try to expedite it since all this budget talk is going on now.

You will need to take into account the current national healthcare act, assuming it passes.  Might want to run some projections with that in mind (or ask Shua to do so).

Amendments will not be considered in order until a sponsor has volunteered for this bill. Only two hours left.

I am in the early stages of developing the administration's Budget.

There will be some short and sharp shocks in some areas, but services to vulnerable citizens and basic and vital services will NOT be affected.

I believe we can bring about deep, but targeted and effective cuts but maintain service delivery and start to pay off the debt from next year.

Well, no, but we might end up changing the actual details to make it more palatable.
