Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln vs Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

     vs

I guessing Condi would have the advantage at the start due name recognition.

Whats the map look like?
Popular vote?
Would the African American vote be the deciding vactor?
Would Lincoln do better than Clinton?
I dont know much about Lincoln.  What type of senator and candidate is she?

I'd say Lincoln would almost definitely win, as most bubbas (a huge part of the GOP base) wouldn't go out and vote for a black woman.  Is Rice pro-choice?  I'm not sure, but if she is that hurts her even more.

The map:

A Lincoln landslide. She wins 458-80 in the electoral vote, and 56-43 in the popular vote. This is a significant election because it would be the first time since 1944 that a Democrat sweeps the entire South.

She's black.  She wouldn't win in the South.

The fact that she's black would hurt her more in the northeast than it would in the South, and even that's not much.

Lincoln would win KY... maybe Rice would get a homestate bounce in AL? Other than that I agree

Southern whites relish the thought of a black president eh?

I'd have to see some poll numbers, but Condi has actual national security experience.

She's "reluctantly pro-choice," but she's a social conservative overall, so she'd definitely win the South.

so she'd definitely win the South.

I think your underestimating the racism in the south jsut a tad.  I thinks she would have a chance in the south but, she is most definitley not a shew in.

I think you're overestimating the racism in the south just a tad.  Rice would carry Tennessee with ease.

so she'd definitely win the South.

She's black.  She wouldn't win in the South.

Where did you get that idea?  A lot of voters would vote for her simply to prove they're not bigoted.

Rice would win Alabama...not sure about Mississippi--she'd win it if she could get out the black vote, but if she couldn't, Lincoln perhaps could win.

Prejudice is an amazing thing.  It leads otherwise intelligent people to make a conclusion about millions of others.

Like declaring whole regions would never vote for a black person.

Prejudice is an amazing thing.

Lincoln would still win the black vote, and her gains among whites would more than make up for losses among blacks. She would sweep the South.

Just because you live in the South doesn't give you instant knowledge of the results in this scenario. Understand, I'm not trying to call the entire South racist, or anything stupid like that. I know a lot of people in Oregon that probably wouldn't vote for a black woman. I'm just trying to be realistic about the outcome.
