As a person I've come to know him as a genuinely good person underneath the snark but as a poster I absolutely loathe how he somehow represents "forum culture" which I hate with all of what's left of my heart.

Despite Joe's helpful explanation, the circumstances surrounding Straha's past that equates apparently to having a permanent scarlet letter placed on his chest despite the lack of a formal ban are a bit murky, exacerbated by the fact that most of us were not here then. Anyway, one must assume Nym made the decision, and presumably he had all the facts at hand which we don't have when he made the decision.

If it were me, after a suitably long hiatus, I would have a petition process available for those who were banned asking to be reinstated. Some petitions, like from "The Roach" (Grumps' moniker for the chap) would be denied, because aggravated circumstances attended his capital crimes leading to close to a mass mod resignation apparently, until he was finally  given the chop, but in another case, it might be granted subject to certain terms and conditions.

But I don't make the rules around here.

That's not me, for proof observe that I've been on this forum since May 2010 without any trolling(only received infraction points 2 times, both in 2010). It didn't cross your mind that their might be 2 people on the internet with username "Rockingham"?

That's not me, for proof observe that I've spent 2 years on this forum without trolling(just 4 infraction points, all of them unreasonable IMO). It didn't cross your mind that their might be 2 people on the internet with username "Rockingham"?

It's doubtful that there are two from Western Australia with the username "Rockingham."  Nevertheless, I don't think people should be punished based on their actions on other forums.
