I have just completed my last exam (interestingly, in my favorite class with my favorite professor - environmental politics and policy) of my undergraduate career here at CMU!

5 years, and a fair amount of stress, but I'm finally done.

I am now going to drink some Oberon and bake some beer bread.

You may now go about the rest of your evening activities.

Congratulations, Inks!!

Any plans for graduate school?

Wayne State Law School.  The plan (as of now - which could change) is environmental and election law with a bit of corporate law sprinkled in there.

I figured the exclamation point made it clear enough it was a happy done.  I've fixed it.

Oh, its not your fault, really, though at first I suspected you of teasing.  The human heart doth ever grasp at hope!

my condolences.  I am in stage 1/2 of the grieving process myself -- all downhill from here, until perhaps retirement at age ~70.

Yeah, it's pretty much the worst feeling ever. I'm trying to alleviate the pain by making grandiose summer plans, but what lies beyond August 2012 (Lollapoolza) Huh

no, I meant "stage 1 or stage 2" of the grieving process.  I will graduate in a matter of relative moments (officially late May) if I pass everything, which I probably will.

You're done?!  What are you, a turkey in the oven?  What you are is finished.  You are the one doing the doing, not the one being done.  I've gotten used to construction workers saying "done" when referring to "finished" but a college graduate?!  One might think that if you really ought to be finished with college you might be able to discriminate between a direct object and a subject.  Well, I blame the schools, not you.  Our tax dollars at work.  (Please at least tell me you went to a state school, and not a private one, so that I can hold on to the false hope that our society isn't crumbling.)

angus, aside from the petty grammar critique, he's neither finished nor done, though of course he  is 'done for' (as are we all).  The travails of life are far from over at the end of college - the long years of work-misery lie ahead, followed by the decline and despair of old-age - idleness, finally, when it can no longer be enjoyed.

Graduation is one of life's most pitiable sights.

Typically I'm a grammar Nazi, but you caught me on this one.  Also, I went to a private school (although the English program was quite bad. It was still much better than Lincoln Park public schools, though).
