I would've happily voted for Rockefeller.

What would the map look like?

LBJ would have won solidly, but it wouldn't have been the blowout the real life election was.

Either one would be fine.  I voted Rockefeller.  I wish all elections were like this.

Johnson still wins unfortunately. Alabama and Mississippi vote for a bunch of unpledged electors who vote for Dixiecrat candidates like they did in the last election

Johnson, I would have no problem with a President Rockefeller however.

Wasn't Rockefeller a RINO?

Not in those days - he was the perfect mainstream Republican then.

Rockefeller would have been crushed almost as bad as Goldwater:

In such a matchup, George Wallace would have ran and carried the southern states that voted for Goldwater in the real election. Johnson wins 410-81, while Wallace gets 47 electoral votes.

True... I just remembered why Rockefeller lost to Goldwater in the first place...

Rockefeller would be fine, though.

IIRC Wallace had been Governor for 1 year in 1964, no way he would've run......

Wallace did run for the Democratic Nomination in 1964.

I'd pick LBJ, but would be satisfied with Rocky.  He was from the Dewey/Stassen/Willkie/Ike Eastern internationalist wing of the GOP (which ceased to exist with Silvio Conte's death).
